Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple

One of the most important buildings for the Hindu community in Johor Bahru, the Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple was the first Hindu building in the world to be made of glass. Light from glass chandeliers is reflected in a bright blaze that is originally quite blinding on doors, pillars, walls and ceilings. A mosaic of 300,000 pieces of red, blue, yellow, green,    purple and white glass embellishes at least 90% of the temple. Both the inside and the outside are adorned with glass that makes it sparkle in the sunlight, and you will notice statues of Christ and Buddha inside even though this is a traditionally Hindu building. If you like unusual structures, make sure you don’t miss this bizarre stop off the route.
